Acne scars develop when inflammation reaches deeper layers of the skin, damaging collagen and underlying tissue. As the skin heals, it may produce too little collagen, resulting in depressed scars such as ice pick or boxcar scars, or too much collagen, leading to raised scars like hypertrophic or keloid scars.

Types of Acne Scars We Treat

Atrophic Scars (Depressed): Ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars

Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): Dark spots or discolouration

Acne Scar Treatment By Laser

Inflammatory Acne:

1. Papules: Small red or pink bumps that feel tender but do not have any pus.

2. Pustules: Red bumps with white or yellow pus-filled center

Severe/Deeper Acne:

1. Nodules: Large, hard, painful lesions deep under the skin without a visible head.

2. Cysts: Large, soft, pus-filled lesions under the skin. Painful and deep will most likely require antibiotics as part of treatment plan.
